Val Vibrata

Campli, Civitella del Tronto

The Vibrata River is situated in the northern part of the Abruzzo region; along this river you may visit various towns which are of great importance for history, art and architecture.

Takin the SS 81 road you reach Civitella del Tronto, a little but very fashinating town with its noteworthy history along the rivers Vibrata and Salinello. There are breathtaking views of the Mountains Laga and Gran Sasso, where is set the sanctuary of San Gabriele and the town of Castelli, which is famous for pottery.

Taking the direction to Teramo you may first reach Campli, which is situated on a hill between the valleys of the rivers Fiumicino and Siccagno. In the city you may visit important monuments dating from the Iron Age, such as the necropolis and the "Scala Santa" (Holy Stairs) of Pope Clemente the XIVth.
